I have to tell you that this place is never been called Amara Lighthouse, and never will be. I unintentionally labeled Amara Lighthouse on my photo on the left. Blame it on the Amara's billboards and advertisements at the airport, mall, and sidewalks, it got stuck on my brain. Grrr..
Anyway, this place is located in Liloan City, Cebu. After our tiring fishing trip in Papa Kit's, we decided to drop and check out the place. We had to pay the tricycle driver with Php 150.00 for the round trip. Surprisingly, we also witnessed a show of candled lanterns in the air. There was a grand party going on at the beach near the lighthouse.
The Bagacay Point Lighthouse.
"The original lighthouse was built in 1857 by the Spaniards. However, the current tower was constructed in 1904 by order of William Howard Taft, the first Governor-General of the Philippines and later the President of the United States. The tower is 72 feet tall and remains in active use today. "
